We purchased our Mini Australian Shepherd, River, from Rodeo N Pups in February of 2018. He is beautiful, smart, and has a great temperament! He loves to be with us at every moment, and the feeling is mutual!! We are so in love with this dog!! We are thankful for Rodeo N Pups for River’s quality breeding, and for the professionalism they exhibited during the entire process, including our visit, the purchase process, and the eventual pick-up when it was time to bring him home. You won’t go wrong with Rodeo N Pups when it comes to your next pup. Quality pups, and quality people!!

Growing up my parents had an outdoor Aussie. I always knew when I could have my own dog, I would have an Aussie. A friend referred us to Rodeo N Pups. We got our first indoor dog from them in 2014, a mini-Aussie (Mini American Shepherd). We absolutely love him and the experience we had with Rodeo N Pups. Alicia was very thorough with me on the breed and the expectations I should have when owning an Aussie. I highly recommend them!

We got our mini blue merle Aussie from Rodeo N Pups almost a year ago. We love her! She is perfect. I'm a little biased but she has a great australian shepherd personality. They were very professional, knowledgeable and we could tell they loved their dogs! Within the first week of purchase, we took our Zoe to the vet and she said, health wise, she is perfect. I would recommend to family, friends and even go back if we are ever looking for a third ;)

Absolutely love our little Charmin! She came to us healthy, happy, and well socialized 😍 Rodeo N Pups made the process of adding a fur baby to our family a breeze. From purchase to pickup, everything was so easy and they stayed in constant contact while waiting for her to be ready for our home by sending updated pictures and videos. Without any hesitation I recommend Rodeo N Pups and when we are ready to add another corgi to our home, we will be going through them again 🙂

We love Rodeo N Pups! Our Corgi, Mildred, is so sweet and smart! Rodeo N Pups were so easy to work with and extremely accommodating when we were wanting a Corgi. When we are ready for another pup we will definitely go back to Rodeo N Pups!!

My daughter had always wanted a Corgi and I told her when she turned 25 or had a place of her own I would get her one. I started looking several months before her birthday and Alicia got a hold of me telling me they had a litter that was going to be ready in August. Long story short, the litter was born on her birthday. Alicia messaged saying she was having the babies now, at 5:30, August 4, and sent photos soon afterwards and continued sending updates weekly, daily sometimes. She let her name the puppies and she had her pick of the litter. She didn't actually get her Corgi on her 25th, but it turned out better. They celebrate their birthdays together every year. Cid is incredibly smart, healthy, and active. Couldn't have turned out better. Amazing folks and breeders.

Alicia's pups are the best. Our first is now 1.5 years old and we just picked up our second pup tonight. Great dogs from a great family! We have 3 boys and I couldn't ask for better dogs for them to grow up with! Thanks Alicia!
ABOUT
Our Kennels
Over the past 25 years we have been involved in raising fur family members, we have had many changes. We at one point bred exclusively Miniature Australian Shepherds, then in the 2010s we add the Pembroke Welsh Corgi to our breeding stock. In 2021 after the pandemic took its toll on us as a family, we made the big decision to move part of our breeding operation to South Mississippi to enjoy our life more. With this big move we added to our breeding stock an amazing line of CKC Registered American Corgis.
We feel this move and change will allow us to expand our breeding operation and better care for our human and canine family. No matter the location of the kennel (Missouri or Mississippi) or the kennel name (Rodeo N Pups or Waggin G Kennel) we are still the Gatz family. We still will make every effort to provide quality loving family pets for our customers.
American Corgi
American Corgis were created by initially crossing a Cardigan Welsh Corgi with a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Since that initial cross, through careful breeding, focus has been put on carrying forward only the best traits of each breed as well as putting that beautiful merle coloring onto a more physically Pembroke style dog.
A corgi with a merle coat color can not be considered a Pembroke Welsh Corgi because the merle gene (M) does not occur naturally on the breed. Even though here at Canaan Corgis we produce American Corgis, all of our Merle Corgis are fully health tested and their DNA is 100% Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Somewhere back in their lines they had a Cardigan Welsh Corgi, but now its DNA has been "washed out" throughout the years and only the Merle gene has been kept. If you buy an "American Corgi" from us, and have the puppy genetically tested, he/she would come back as a purebred PWC. Their temperament is almost identical to the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. The only difference - at least on our experience - is that they tend to be less bossy and more dramatic.
An American Corgi does not necessarily has to be a merle, even though it is the most famous coat color among them. They can come in a variety of colors accepted by both Pembroke and Cardigan standards, which really opens up a rainbow of color and coat pattern choices. The American Corgis that we have produced here at the farm are: Red and White, Tricolors (BHT & RHT), Fawn, Blue Merle, Red Merle, and Fawn Merle.
